There are four different currencies in Naval Action. Currencies are stored in the currencies chest which is available in the port screen. Transportable currencies need to be actively moved to the currency chest. Once in the chest, they are available at any location.

Currencies
In Naval Action there are two types of monetary currency (reals, doubloons) and two types of meta currency (combat medals, victory marks). The monetary currencies can be traded among players.
Monetary Currencies
Reals
Reals are tradeable, non-transportable silver coins required for
- buying items in the shop,
- placing contracts in the shop, and
- extracting resources from buildings.
Reals can be obtained by
- selling goods,
- selling ships,
- receiving compensation for a lost ship,
- receiving as a reward for sinking an enemy ship, and
- receiving as a reward for completing delivery mission.
Doubloons
A maximum 10,000 doubloons can be stored in the player's money chest. Otherwise doubloons can be stored in ships' holds or warehouses. Unlike reals, doubloons can be looted from a ship's hold.
Doubloons are tradeable, transportable gold coins required for
- buying advanced upgrades in the admiralty,
- buying ship permits in the admiralty,
- extracting rare woods, and
- crafting ships.
Doubloons can be obtained by
- looting from enemy ship cargo hold (random drop from sunk player or NPC),
- receiving as a reward for completing combat mission, and
- receiving as a reward for completing delivery mission.
Non Monetary Currencies
Combat Medals
Combat medals are non-tradeable, transportable medals required for
- buying advanced upgrades in the admiralty, and
- buying ship permits in the admiralty as well as
- investments in shipbuilding upgrades
Combat medals can be obtained by
- receiving as a reward for completing patrol mission, and
- receiving as a reward for completing combat mission.
Victory Marks
Victory marks are non-tradeable, transportable medals required for
- buying ship permits in the admiralty, and
- shipbuilding upgrades and resource investments
Victory marks are awarded as a weekly income for lord protector status.
To become a lord protector of a harbor, it is required to participate and win a port battle.
Lord protectors will receive victory marks every week based on their port ownership on conquest round end (weekly). Players receive one victory mark for each port of which they are lord protector. Victory marks are limited to a maximum of 15 per week.
